Women can be fabulous at the age of forty and over. It is not all about what you wear, but the attitude you project when you are wearing certain outfits. It is also how you feel about yourself and the confidence that you portray to the world.
Oftentimes, the over forty celebrity woman will upstage her younger costar. In fact, she will steal the spotlight for the night in her perfectly fitted garment and meticulous styled hair. From well-designed neutrals to bright metallic and all things in between, at the Academy Awards, haute couture designs ruled as the best option. Modest hair adjusted the appeal and the pizazz of the dresses.
Jennifer Aniston, at the same Academy Awards, took a break from her usual selection of black to a red Valentino dress with a highlighted ball gown skirt. Jennifer had been absent from the Academy Awards now for a few years and most people know her for wearing a tightly fitted black dress; slinky in appearance so this was a big and bold change for her, but she looked awesome.
At the Awards, Sally Field also opted for red and a tussled coiffed hairstyle to keep with her see-through, but chic Valentino gown. Who said a forty year old cannot pull off sheer and elegant?
Octavia Spencer glowed at the Awards in her one-shoulder and blush colored ball gown by Tadashi Shoji, reputable fashion designer. Forget about those boring neutrals – forty year olds can try bold and beautiful colors too.
Octavia was able to pull off the blush color because it matched her skin tone and she looked absolutely stunning. She had a sheer draped neckline that drew most of the attention to her well chiseled facial features and at the same time, she had a well-fitted midsection to show off her small waist. She certainly found the precise dress to accentuate her over forty year old curves.
Fashionable at any age
No one thought an over forty year old woman could pull off wearing heavy metal, but Naomi Watts did when she sparkled in a gunmetal blue asymmetrical dress. With its futuristic appearance, it presented a freshness that stood out as being fashion forward. The dress shone quite succinctly so she wore fewer accessories.
Look at Jane Fonda in her flattering yellow Versace dress.
At the age of 75, Jane was not afraid to act the legend, but still stay trendy in a flattering dress that molded her shoulders and balanced out her lower features and showed off her tiny waistline.
For all the best dressed on the red carpet, there were not many misses, except for Kate Capshaw who did not choose the right accessories and therefore, it broke the flow of her dress. In addition, Helen Hunt looked frumpy in an H & M dress that fitted poorly.
Some women over forty tend to want to dress ‘their age’ and in many instances, it ages them even more. That is the worst thing that you could do. You can still be appropriately dressed in current fashion trends. You have to choose something that matches your skin color, taste and body type. So go out there and show the world that you may be over forty, but you are still fashion conscious.
